Donate Life Hollywood is a campaign to eliminate the “stolen-kidney” storyline and other inaccuracies from television and film. The campaign is a project of Donate Life America and is supported by organ procurement organizations, donation associations, recipient groups and other donation and transplant-related organizations from across the country

Why is Donate Life Hollywood needed?
Research by Dr. Susan Morgan at Purdue University provides evidence that inaccurate storylines about organ donation keep people from registering as a donor. With 17 people dying every day because of a shortage of organs, these storylines could literally be costing lives.

What will Donate Life Hollywood accomplish?
The mission of Donate Life Hollywood is to encourage writers, producers and executives to aim for accurate and inspiring storylines that help save lives as they entertain their viewers.

Our goal is to increase the number of storylines that accurately portray the donation and transplant process by exposing Hollywood to the true-life stores that inspire people to donate life.

How will Donate Life accomplish its goals?

First, we will track all mentions of organ and tissue donation and transplantation on television. and organize a national response to these storylines from the donation and transplant community.

Second, we will build partnerships with television producers, writers and networks to save lives by proactively eliminating donation myths and misconceptions from their programming.
