We love Bonnie Hunt!

Last week on "The Bonnie Hunt Show," best-friends Jonas and Austin told their story about donation. Austin needed a kidney transplant and Jonas was his living donor.

The two young men, likely in their 20's, were uplifting and candid. Jonas just felt it was the right thing to do and knew that of all the people being tested to give Austin a kidney he would be the match. Austin was grateful and so happy at a second chance at a healthy life. It was a great story, the kind of real-life stories that we in the donation community get to hear about every day. The kind of story that inspires.

The next day Bonnie Hunt had her cousin sitting in the audience of the show and introduced him. Terri had a liver transplant and Bonnie talked about what an impact this made on his life, and hers.

Later that day a colleague reminded me that Ms. Hunt wrote the movie "Return to Me" about a young woman (Minnie Driver) who has a heart transplant and a man (David Duchovny) who falls in love with her and then finds out that his deceased wife was Driver's heart donor. It is the only movie about donation that even starts to resemble the incredible real-life stories of giving and gratitide.

So Donate Life Hollywood sent Bonnie Hunt a cookie basket (see picture above) thanking her for bringing us the story of Austin and Jonas and sent her a letter inviting her to be a part of our radio campaign featuring "Donate Life Stars." We hope to build a relationship with Ms. Hunt who has not only been personally touched by donation but continues to bring us donation stories that inspire!

Say thanks to Bonnie: http://www.bonniehunt.com/2008/09/message_from_bonnie_1.php
